Overview
Cape Foros is one of the most interesting and lesser-known coastal spots near Burgas, located between the Kraimorie district and the protected Poda nature area. The cape is known for its high rocky coastline, wild sea views, and peaceful atmosphere despite being close to the city. It offers wide panoramic views over Burgas Bay and is especially impressive at sunset. Besides its natural beauty, Foros is also important for its historical significance. Archaeologists have discovered remains of the ancient fortress of Poros on the peninsula, considered one of the predecessors of modern Burgas. The area contains findings from the Roman and Byzantine periods, including remains of ancient defensive structures and a historic tower. For many years the peninsula remained difficult to access due to nearby military zones, which helped preserve its wild natural landscape.
