Overview
Cape Akin is a rocky cape located in the northern part of the Akra Peninsula, between Burgas and Chernomorets, near the Atia naval base. The area is known for its high cliffs, volcanic rock formations, and impressive panoramic views over Burgas Bay. The cape stretches deep into the sea and stands out with its wild natural scenery and dramatic Black Sea landscape. It is a popular location for photographers and visitors looking for scenic coastal views, especially during sunset. Parts of the surrounding area are restricted due to nearby military facilities, but the coastline around the cape remains one of the most picturesque spots along the southern coast. Cape Akin also has historical significance, as a memorial dedicated to the sailors of the Bulgarian torpedo boat “Smeli,” which sank during a storm in 1943, is located there.
